Welcome to the Network for Saami Documentation and (Re)vitalization. This is a NordForsk-funded project that is here to enhance Saami language research, documentation, maintenance and (re)vitalization by keying these directly to one another.
We have quite a diverse membership - ranging from language teachers to linguistics professors, and from students to community leaders. What unities us is our interest in supporting, promoting and researching the Saami languages, as well as our dedication to building connections within and between academics and Saami speakers.
Aims
- to build a collaborative network of specialists and speech community members
- to develop efficient, coordinated Saami language projects
- to establish new methods, tools and protocols for these languages
- to encourage the development of and cooperation among young researchers
Benefits
Among other things, our network will benefit researchers and Saami language users within the Nordic region and Russia by fostering better understanding among researchers from different fields and traditions, nurturing better understanding between researchers and speech communities, and creating ways to make the data collected by linguists immediately available for language support.
Activities
We fund travel to workshops, conferences, researcher "summer schools" and other relevant activities aimed at improving the knowledge-base of young researchers and giving them unique opportunities to build collaborative networks of their own.
